1. Who this policy covers
Melb Metro is provided by Iskra Labs Pty Ltd (“we”, “us” or “our”). This policy describes Melb Metro 4.0 on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac (macOS 14 or later), its widgets and complications, and the support and privacy pages at iskralabs.io/melbmetro.
Questions or requests can be sent to hello@iskralabs.io. You can use the app without creating an account or giving us your name or email address.
2. Information stored on your devices
The app stores your saved stations, lines and directions, optional journey nicknames, recent selection, widget and clock preferences, and cached departure information locally. On iPhone and iPad, it also stores departure-reminder settings. This lets the app remember your choices and show previously fetched information when a new request is unavailable.
The app and its widgets share this information through Apple’s app-group storage on the same device, including the Mac app and its desktop widgets. The native Mac app works independently and does not sync its saved journeys or preferences with iPhone, Apple Watch or iCloud.
When you use a paired iPhone and Apple Watch, relevant favourites, preferences and cached information can be transferred between those devices using Apple’s WatchConnectivity service. This does not involve the Mac app. We do not receive a copy of your saved-journey list or nicknames on an Iskra Labs server.
Your devices and backups are also governed by your Apple settings. A device backup or restore may retain or restore app data.
3. Requests for train information
Melb Metro 4.0 connects directly to the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) Timetable API to request departures, disruptions and service details. A request includes the public station, route, direction or service identifiers needed to answer it. The app does not attach your journey nickname, an advertising identifier or a Melb Metro account identifier.
As with other internet connections, the data provider and its infrastructure receive connection information such as your IP address and request details. A station or direction in a request can reveal the service you are checking. We do not control the provider’s server logs or retention periods.
PTV’s information privacy policy has been superseded by the Department of Transport and Planning privacy policy. Please refer to that policy for the provider’s practices.
4. Permissions, reminders and tracking
Melb Metro does not request access to your device’s location, contacts, photos or microphone. You select the stations and journeys you want to view.
If you choose a departure reminder on iPhone or iPad, the app asks for notification permission and schedules a local notification on that device. You can cancel reminders in the app and change notification permission in system Settings. Departure reminders are not offered by the Mac app. Version 4.0 does not register your device with an Iskra Labs backend for remote service-alert push notifications.
The app contains no advertising, third-party analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDKs. We do not use the app to track you across other companies’ apps or websites or sell your personal information. Apple’s own App Store, diagnostics and device services remain subject to your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy policy.
5. When you contact support
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments or details you choose to include, such as a device model or screenshot. We use this information to respond, investigate the issue and keep an appropriate support record. Please avoid including sensitive or unrelated information.
Our email service providers process correspondence to deliver and store it. We may also disclose information when you ask us to, or where required by law. We do not use a support enquiry to sign you up for marketing.
We retain support correspondence for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and maintain necessary support or legal records. You can ask us to access, correct or delete information you have sent. We will assess the request and explain any information we need to retain.
6. Visiting these web pages
These support and privacy pages are hosted on Vercel. Opening them sends normal web-request information, including your IP address, requested URL and browser information, to the hosting infrastructure so the pages can be delivered and secured. These two pages do not load advertising or analytics scripts or use a contact form.
A contact link opens your email application; nothing is sent to us until you send the email. Hosting and email providers may process information outside Australia. Their handling of infrastructure data is governed by their own terms and policies; see Vercel’s Privacy Notice.
7. Your choices and data removal
You can edit or remove saved journeys and change preferences in the app, and cancel reminders on iPhone or iPad. Removing a widget does not remove the saved journey from Melb Metro. Manage Mac journeys separately from those on your iPhone and Apple Watch. To remove the app from your devices, use Apple’s app-deletion controls on each device where it is installed. Device backups are managed separately through Apple’s settings.
We do not hold an online Melb Metro account or a server-side saved-journey history to delete. If you have contacted support, email hello@iskralabs.io to request access, correction or deletion of the correspondence we hold. We may need to confirm that the request relates to you.
8. Security and changes
The app uses HTTPS for its PTV requests and Apple’s storage and connectivity facilities for local data and paired-device communication. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
We will update this policy when the app or our information practices change and revise the date above. If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact hello@iskralabs.io so we can review it and respond.
